On Saturday night, Phlexx Records’ very own Soft Girls and Boys Club, launched their EP in style - rocking the stage at one of Notts’ most loved music venues, The Bodega. Joined by support acts, Jimi Mack and Vega Bay.
Jimi Mack kicked the night off; giving the audience a taste of the talent to come. With his emotively atmospheric style, he had the audience captivated. They were held in the beauty of his voice, accompanied by the melodic rhythm of his guitar. Not forgetting the entincing addition of cello, creating a powerfully soulful performance.
Next up was Vega Bay, and if there’s one thing that’s certain, these boys really do know how to put on a show. In particular, their song; ‘Sometimes it Rains’ had the crowd up on their feet - the combination of lyrical genius and funky instrumentals, gave it a catchy edge you couldn’t help but sing along to. After these guys had showed us how it’s done, the crowd was undoubtedly warmed up and raring to go, for the headline act - Soft Girls and Boys Club!
As they took to the stage, phrasing it “the crowds went wild” - would not be an exaggeration. The welcome they received was not just ‘warm’ but piping hot! It was wonderful to see the joy on Soft Girls and Boys Girls Club’s faces, as the audience loved each and every moment. They performed the amazing new EP, as well as their classic song, ‘22:22’, which certainly seemed to have every person in the room singing along. The psychedelic instrumentals and soul touching high notes, brought the room to a whole new level of groove - with the odd mosh pit thrown in. The night ended with an epic encore; The band invited fans on stage, and within a matter of seconds it was packed, any more would have been as they described "a health and safety fiasco". The launch was a great success - with a happy audience, a stage full of fans, and an incredibly talented band, what more could you ask for?
Be sure to check out their new EP, ‘Welcome to Soft Girls and Boys Club’ - to get yourself a taste of the cracking night they gave us all down at The Bogeda, with their seriously sweet tunes. You do not want miss out... Go on, get some magic in your ears!
