about

Benjamin Zięć is a singer-songwriter from Nottingham that has appeared and featured in a multitude of bands, acts and artforms such as Zenith, The Afterdark Movement, Origin One and in his electronic persona of Trekkah. Throughout his career he has performed alongside acts such as Fat Freddys Drop, Gentlemans Dub Club, Sam Smith, Dizzee Rascal and Jake Bugg on line-ups and festivals around the U.K. and Europe such as Boomtown Festival, No Tomorrow Festival, Wireless Festival, Soundwave Festival, and Splendour Festival.

Going back to the roots of his musical composition, it is only now that the artist has finally got round to recording and releasing his first debut Ep 'Fallen Leaves', under the alias of Benjamin Zięć.

Backed by a superstar lineup of familiar Nottingham-based musicians, Benjamin Zięć & the Rarebreeds combined present a raw, edgy sound blending genres such as Folk, Blues and Grunge. With only a handful of live performances to date, such as BBC Music Introducing's Faction events at Rough Trade and supporting act for Huw Eddy & The Carnival, the group kicked off their debut launch campaign with a sell out Nottingham-based event at newly founded Jazz Bar, Peggy's Skylight.

“An eclectic mixture of people and instruments, including drums, piano, double bass and two violins. His deep and rusty voice sounded great with the bluesy folk music of The Rarebreeds, the combination resulting in a twangy grungy feel.” Elizabeth O’Riordan (Leftlion Magazine)

“Benjamin Zięć has a special gift at captivating people, he seems to be able to draw an audience together from the first note of every performance, bringing a magical silence to any crowd”  Cate Grundy (Phlexx Records)

To promote the launch of the ‘Fallen Leaves’ Ep, out now on Nottingham indie label Phlexx Records, Benjamin recorded a live performance at ROFL Studios for the Moonshine Sessions, check out the Youtube link below. The Ep also received BBC Radio exposure and was rated in local Nottingham magazine Leftlion as one of the top 5 Summer releases to come out of Nottingham.

With the success of the release the band have just begun their Autumn/Winter ‘Fallen Leaves Tour’ that kick-started with a debut appearance in Poland at Poznań Whiskey Bar Dram Explorers, performing to a sellout crowd the group come back to a number of shows through October, November, December in Sheffield, Manchester, London and Nottingham.
